Sweet & Sour

Yesterday was too much fun! From the minute we arrived we knew Shannon and Craig were going to have a gorgeous wedding. Jim and I arrived at the Limoneira lemon groves to see a beautifully decorated site surrounded by lemon groves. We could not have asked for better timing with the daylight. Their ceremony was shadowed by two giant trees giving us perfect lighting conditions and the sunset was perfect for a walk in the lemon groves.

Shannon and Craig were high school sweetharts who have been together for 10 years! They were surrounded by friends and family from all over the country who all seemed to be so happy to see the two of them together. Needles to say, when family and friends come together at a wedding it can turn into a real party, and this day was no different! From singing "Don't Stop Believing" or dancing to "Better Together", Shannon and Craig have given us a day to remember, and it is one we hope to have helped them remember for the rest of their lives.

Equitation

I will have to admit that today was one of the most challenging engagement shoots I have done. Today we shot Ashley & Tyler...on horseback. The factors that made it difficult is that we had limited daylight and animals. Like kids, animals, whether it be a horse or dog, can be difficult to shoot. They tend to be tempermental and finding the perfect moment can be difficult, especially when the sun is going down. But with a little work we were able to get a few great shots! Since horses are a big part of Ashley & Tyler's life, it defintely made it a rewarding experience.Img_88862

Sunset & City Lights

Today Jim and I did an engagement shoot with Alicia & Ryan. We first went to our secret beach spot in Malibu. What makes the spot so incredible is that no one is ever on the beach and it is in a little cove so it does not get too windy! We started the shoot around six so the lighting was perfect! What I love about engagement shoots is that you really get a feel for what the couple is like before the wedding. Alicia and Ryan were naturals with the camera, which makes my job really easy!Malibu
Once it got dark, we decided to head down to the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Night photography is my absolute favorite, so whenever I have a couple that's willing to take night shots I jump at the opportunity. The 3rd Street Promenade has such ambiant lighting and fun architecture, making it perfect for engagement shoots. A great couple, sunset, and city lights, what more could a photographer ask for?Santamonica

Hollywood, Flowers, & Wicked

It has been a busy weekend for not shooting any weddings. On Friday Jim and I went to Hollywood to shoot Mike & Cyndi's engagement session. Their wedding is a Hollywood theme, so they thought it would be fun for the engagement pictures to match! Since it was Friday the traffic was horrible, so poor Cyndi was getting car sick, but fortunately by the time we got there she was all better and ready to go!

Saturday we had an engagement shoot with Joyce & Beryel. We started in studio and then went exploring around the beach area in Ventura. On the way to the beach I saw this awesome little flowershop. We bought some red sunflowers and got some awesome shots. I always love it when I am able to get something I didn't expect.

We ended our weekend with a day off! Several months ago Jim and I decided to take the day off so we bought tickets to go see Wicked. We had never been to a full production like this together, all I can say is it was incredible! Their voices are so amazing, of course being photographers all Jim and I could talk about was how great the lighting was and wouldn't it be cool if we could build sets like that in our studio!
