Since September I have been teaching photography
once a week to the girls at The Juvenile Hall in Oxnard. The girls have
been doing an amazing job and it is so great to see how creative they have
been in such confined space. Because of this we will be having an
opening reception of their work at our studio on Wednesday December 10,
2008 from 6:30-10 pm. The admission is free and there will be
complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres, additionally music will be
provided by In The Mix Events (Free food & entertainment...how can you
go wrong!)

On December 10, 2008, Girls Inc. of Carpinteria and the Ventura County Probation Agency are proud to present the photographic artwork of girls within the Juvenile Justice System. Since August 2008, the girls have been taking weekly photography classes at the Juvenile Facilities and some have continued after their release in the community. During these classes, the girls learned the basics of digital photography and digital image editing. Using their photographs and with the help of image editing software, they learned about color correction, special effects, and cropping to create their own artwork. The girls’ artwork will be on display at The Pinhole Gallery at 3980 Market Street in Ventura on December 10, 2008 from 6:30-10:00 p.m. Funded through a grant from the California Consumer Protection Foundation.
